Information For New Members
Weston Tennis Club is situated near the centre of Weston Super Mare. The entrance to the club is in Neva Road almost opposite the train station but the courts are situated behind the houses so not easy to see from the road.
Weston Tennis Club is a Non Profit Making Members Club, formed in 1990 when a long term lease was agreed. This has recently been renewed enabling the Committee to move forward with plans to improve facilities.
The aims of the Club are to promote the playing of tennis and encourage more people (particularly juniors) to make full use of the facilities available. We will encourage competitive tennis by providing teams in the County Leagues and by organising competitions and tournaments.
Substantial improvements are currently being made to the club's playing facilities. Consequently the
club is closed for play for several weeks. We expect to reopen towards the end of October 2008.
We have had the full support of the County Officials of the Lawn Tennis Association and they will continue to assist with finance and expertise. Both the Club and L.T.A. want to increase participation and the standard of play. We have an LTA licensed coach and there will be the opportunity to increase use of the improved facilities in the community and particularly with the local schools.
We plan to hold Open Days next year when we hope to attract new members.
As for competitive team tennis we will have at least two, possibly three teams in the North Somerset Winter League. We expect to have five men's teams
in the North Somerset Summer League and a men's team in the Avon Summer League. There will be two ladies' teams in the North Somerset Summer League.

The courts are normally available for play throughout the year from 9am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, 10am to 10pm on Sunday. On non Club nights there is a charge for the use of the floodlights.
We have Club Sessions throughout the year when, providing weather conditions are reasonable there would usually be some members present. There is usually a committee member or long established member who will organise a four or a two so if you’re a new member all you have to do is turn up.
The Senior Club Sessions take place as follows:
| Sunday mornings | 10 am to 12.30 pm | |
| Tuesday afternoons | 2 pm to 4 pm | |
| Thursday evenings | 7 pm to 9pm | |
| Saturday afternoons | 2 pm to 4 pm |
The Junior Club Sessions on the senior courts take place as follows:
| Saturday mornings | 11:00 am to 12:00 pm | |
| Tuesday afternoons | 5:30 pm to 6.30 pm |
The younger juniors can attend for play when the coach is not present but there will need to be a parent or other adult in attendance. The club has a Child Protection Policy in line with LTA requirements.
If you feel you would like to give the Club a try, please ring Bob Wilson 625603 or Tony Kinsey 632503 to arrange an introduction or simply turn up at a club session with your tennis kit and have a free introductory game. You could then apply for membership right away or have another six sessions at £3 per visit before making up your mind. Suitable kit varies with the time of year but must always include non-marking tennis shoes. In the summer tennis clothing should be worn but in the winter anything goes!
Membership fees vary with age - please visit our Subscriptions page. Please note there is no Joining Fee and no Playing In procedure.
We hope that you have found this information useful and we look forward to meeting you.
